May 2 - Smith Plantation, Roswell, GA

Whew! Yesterday was a big day.  We went to the Smith Plantation in Roswell, GA and then we went to Atlanta to visit the Fernbank Natural History Museum and then the Atlanta History Museum! We had such a big day and took so many pictures, I decided to do three posts: one for each place.

So here goes - the Smith Plantation.... (http://www.archibaldsmithplantation.org/history)

Here I am, standing in front of the main house:

Southerners really like to rock on the front porch, drinking sweet tea - an iced tea made with LOTS of sugar.  We didn't have any sweet tea, but we did see some nice rocking chairs on the Smith's front porch.  (Can you find me on the rocking chair??)

Then we walked to the side of the house to check out the butterfly garden.

This is a small guest house.

Here is the well where they would get their water.

Here is the side of the house.

There was also a Spring House - a big bunch of stones that made a really small house in the creek where they would keep the things that needed to stay cool.    There were a lot of fun things to see there, but we need to head off to the Fernbank Museum!
